Jason’s Marinara Recipe
INGREDIENTS
6 cans of whole tomatoes
6
cloves of chopped fresh garlic
At least 2 good sized bunches of
chopped fresh basil
1 Tablespoon of olive oil
3-4 Tablespoons of good, sweet Italian wine
1/3 - 2/3 cup of sugar
1 teaspoon of Onion powder
1 pinch of salt
1 teaspoon of baking soda (to cut the acidity)
INSTRUCTIONS (Makes a large pot of marinara)
1. Open and pour tomato cans into a large sauce pan.
2. With hands crush the tomatoes until it is chunky but not too chunky.
3. Add baking soda and salt.
4. Begin to simmer
5. Add chopped garlic & onion powder
6. After simmers for 20 minutes, add wine, sugar and fresh basil.
7. Simmer another 10 minutes and then add olive oil.
8. Simmer it a final 10 minutes, stirring. Check to make sure it doesn’t need more of anything.
9. Add additional portions of ingredients as needed.
10. Serve over Al Dente pasta.
